Upcoming Events in Pasco County

If you’d like some hands-on instruction on building a better landscape then there are some great events going on in Pasco County this fall. See if you can squeeze any of these events around your back-to-school schedule!

For example, you could attend a Florida Friendly Garden Workshop at Spring Hill Branch Library on September 11. The workshop starts at 10 am.

The library is located at 9220 Spring Hill Drive. Call Jim Moll at (352) 754-4433 for more information.

Pasco County Extension is also running some worthwhile events. I really enjoy everything that our various County Extension offices do: they’re excellent resources.

“Landscaping with Florida Natives” is going to be held September 3rd from 6:30 to 7:40 pm. This class will teach you more about reducing water use in your yard by using native plants.

Landscaping with Florida Natives will be held at the Hudson Library at 8012 Library Road. You can register online.

Pasco County Extension is also hosting a Hydroponics workshop on September 28 at 10:00 am. This one will be held at the Home Depot on 10017 US 19 in Port Richey. It will give you the basics of starting your own Hydroponics Project.

If you’re not familiar with Hydroponics, it’s a way of growing food without soil while cultivating fish at the same time. You essentially create a mini water-based ecosystem that can grow a lot of food in a very small space.

You can register online for this seminar, too.

These programs are a great way to learn great new gardening and water usage skills. Best of all, they’re free, though participation and seating is of course limited. Register early to take advantage of them!
